Misquoted: God Didn’t Really Say That

How many times have you heard: it says in the Bible…

There are a lot of ‘it says in the Bible’ things that actually aren’t in the Bible!  Things that sound like God would say that need to be carefully and clearly affirmed to be said by God.

The Bible is God’s story, revealing his heart and character as he enacts his plan to rescue a people to be his people.  If we hear or repeat things we think he says, but he actually hasn’t, then we won’t clearly understand or communicate who God is or what he promises he will do.
